all was lain to burnination

hey, we fought the dragon and kicked its ass. That motherfucker when DOWN, and half of the party was considered too low level to fight it. But we took it down anyway, and nobody died during the fight.

Yeah so, people haven't been updating their screenshots much, but I have, so everybody should look at them and leave comments on the cool pictures and stuff.

and the dragon comes out in the night and kicks our asses

So yeah. We fought a dragon and it kicked our asses. Everybody's saying we're trying again on sunday, but I honestly think it's futile until everybody involved is at least level 20 with a level 10 subjob. Remember that this game is going to be around for years and years, so there's absolutely no rush at all to complete this quest. But please try to make at least some level between 20 and 25 before fighting this thing again, unless you like dying and losing exp. You can even go over 25, just make sure to keep your equipment that's level 25 or under, because you can't wear equipment that's over level 25 in the dragon fight. It will de-equip you, and you don't want to fight naked.

EFF EFF ECKS EYE

been playing FFXI a lot the past few days, I felt that I had to make up for the few days that I didn't play much, and I would say that I more than made up for it with my level 20whm/8blm. My goal is to make level 30whm/15blm before the end of November. Then I can get my sweet bard action on. And that's when the total awesomeness will ensue.

feeling guilty

I haven't been playing FFXI much... it's mainly a combination of working, sleeping, or hanging out with friends. When I'm at my computer, I'm usually installing stuff and checking it out now. I wanted to see how Halo would work on my new comp, and if CS 1.6 would ever skip or jump like it did on the old comp. Or if America's Army is actually playable with a decent comp. I've got a lot to catch up on, but all I've pretty much been done since I got the new comp is play FFXI. I'll probably play a lot more once the week starts.

Got the linkshell started, it's called "BigAmericanParty". I haven't been on much since it started, and that's a shame because I hear some people out of the "RL Group" have joined, like Elktron. I'll play more when I have time to sit down a few hours and party up. I generally want to follow the japanese rules of party etiquette-- don't join a party unless you're willing to give up at least two hours. If you join a party at 8am, it's nice to stick with them until 10am. That way everybody has time to benefit from the party. Who the fuck wants to join a party that's only gonna be worth playing in for like 20 minutes? Yeah, nobody. It's also good to tell them when you're planning on leaving, like give a half hour warning, so they can move to a safe place before that time. These are things I saw posted by a japanese person, and I think they're all rather reasonable sounding... now what was I talking about again

i'm so tired

I am tired. I guess this is what I get for playing a game until 3am, then getting up at 8am to play with the japanese crowd until 11am, then going to work at 11:30 until 5:30, then staying up until 3am again and rinse/repeat. I've probably had about 14 hours of sleep total in the past three nights, which for me, isn't a lot. I tried to play some FFXI after work tonight, but I actually fell asleep at the keyboard while resting. That is about when I declared tonight to be "break from FFXI night". I'm gonna go to sleep here in the next hour or so. I'll be nice and refreshed when I get up at 8am to play with the japanese peeps again. :)

So, I have about 6000gil right now accumulated towards the linkshell. I'm not going to say who contributed how much, so nobody feels bad or left out or like they're not participating, but I've put in 3000gil myself. I feel like it's my duty to pay a nice chunk of the price, since I'll be the leader of the linkshell and all. Only need 2000 more gil to get a linkshell, so get ready for some awesomeness.

So I'm thinking, we should call the linkshell "Pickles", or "Piolkels". And the color of the linkshell, should of course, be green. I'm honestly leaning towards the correct spelling of the word, because the incorrect spelling "Piolkels" will pretty much be an inside joke that nobody outside will understand. I kind of want the linkshell to spread out beyond our immediate group of real-life friends. Maybe even evolve into an established linkshell clan. But, like I've said, it's up to you guys. But we've gotta come to an agreement soon, because we're getting awfully close to our goal.

life consumed

right now I feel like every minute I'm not working or playing FFXI, I'm wasting time. I feel like I'm wasting time right now updating this blog instead of playing FFXI. But it IS SO HARD, I am level 10 and a white mage and getting XP when I'm not in a party is SO HARD SO HARD!

This morning though, I was running around south gustaberg just minding my own business, and someone asked me to join their party. He was obviously japanese because the request was in broken english, but I decided to go ahead and join the party. I had a great time, probably more fun than I've ever had playing the game before. One of them (Slip) was a level 9 samurai and a level 4 warrior and he was totally badass, Halukaze was a level 9 Monk, and then Blanket joined later and he was a level 8 blackmage, level 4 whitemage. We started off in gustaberg but it was too easy, so we moved up to the highlands and we had a lot of close calls there. When blanket joined, we were just tearing stuff up, and getting good xp in the process. I came extremely close to hitting level 10 before I had to work. I hope they remember me and ask me to party with them again, I had a great time.

Here are some screenshots:

Sorry about the screenies being so small, FFXI is really gay when it comes to taking screenshots. I don't know why.

wow

Lotsa people are getting FFXI, and I think that's awesome. Just be warned though, it's either something you're going to love, or you're going to hate. If you hate it, you'll probably cancel your subscription and never play it again, and make bad faces whenever it's mentioned or whenever you think about it. But if you love it, it will take over your life and hours will float away without you even knowing it. MMORPG's are kinda dangerous like that. They will possess you.

So yeah, I got my white mage to level 7 today, yay! Protect makes him a lot more powerful. I beefed up my macros so I'll function a lot better while I'm in a party. Once we start hitting level 10, we gotta start partying and hitting up the bigger stuff. I'll get cure 2 when I'm level 11 so stuff will be a lot easier. Just don't expect me to be up front attacking because I can barely survive against stuff that's a "decent challenge", which means they're a level or two below me. I need tanks that have the provoke skill. That means YOU josh.
