I want to play Wind Waker

I want to play it really bad. It looks so good. Some people have told me it's not as good as Ocarina, but then others have told me it's better than every Zelda.

Either way, I'm glad that Wind Waker kicks ass (just as I predicted). I was also glad that Metroid Prime kicked ass (predicted) and that Kingdom Hearts kicked ass (also predicted).

I'm tired of all of these so-called "true" video game fans that think that any kind of major change in a game's style is bad. Originality and innovation are the things that fuel the video game industry. Change is required for progression, because if you don't change, it's just the same old shit over and over.

A lot of people were pissed about Final Fantasy X. I still can't comprehend exactly why they were pissed, but I'm assuming it was because of the cutscenes/voiceovers, and because of the lack of a world map. Nevermind the fact that there were cutscenes in practically all of the Final Fantasy games, they just weren't technologically advanced enough to incorporate the FMV that they put in now. And nevermind the fact that you can skip the voiceovers so you can just read the text. And nevermind the fact that the game still takes over 30 hours to beat even without a world overview map (not counting the airship map), while other FF games take that long WITH a world map.

Even the story was great. Better than the un-memorable story of FFIX. What was FFIX about again? Some guy with a tail kidnaps a princess or something. The FFIX storyline was so trippy, I don't even bother trying to remember most of it, because it all seemed like they were grabbing at air for strange plot-twists and settings.

I think the problem with people is that they let the message boards and internet sites control their minds. Just because some idiot on the rpgamer.com message board said FFX sucks doesn't mean it's super cool and hip to jump on the "FFX sucks" bandwagon, making up random flames like "the menu system is impractical!", or "the sphere system is gay! constant character progression and the ability to choose how your character develops SUCKS! Give me experience points and the game automatically choosing what spells I learn, like FF4. I lack the brainpower to decide for myself how my own characters develop."

And one last thing, if you disagree with me, die. thankU!!! ^^ ^_^;;;;;;;;;;; keke lala hihihihihihihihihihihihi (i'm japanese)

Lannin' it up

Sorry to all of the people that sent me messages on AIM after 8pm last night, I was crashed on a soft thing next to my computer because I hadn't slept for almost 24 hours (Metroid Prime Metroid Prime Metroid Prime new hard drive install hard drive reinstall windows rebuild emulator collection start accumulating more pirated software).

I'm quite aware of the LAN tomorrow, and I'll be there as soon as possible... I gotta go out of town Monday, even though I really don't want to. I'm only going to avoid feeling guilty about not going. It's gonna be a fun time, with lots of game reinstallations for me. Gotta reinstall Half-Life, gotta reinstall Splinter Cell and Starcraft and Asheron's Call and whatever games I feel like playing. I have a lot more room for games and stuff now, so I'm just gonna go crazy with installations. I gotta get Photoshop off somebody also.

My headphones are broken though... the mic still works, but one of the speakers on the headphones doesn't, so you'll have to put up hearing my logitech speakers. Luckily, it'll be at the Lan House (a name that deserves capitalization), so noise won't be an issue. I guarantee I'll be making plenty of noise even without the aid of speakers.

110gigs

That's how much total space I have on my comp now. Let's see how long it takes to fill it up.

Now that I'm back on my computer, and using a keyboard that's not a piece of shit, I'll tell you all about how much I love Metroid Prime. I love Metroid Prime. It's so good, it makes me want to go laugh in the face of everybody who said that a Metroid FPS was a mistake. Everybody who said that the game was going to suck, I want to laugh at them. Metroid Prime is better than Metroid, better than Metroid II, better than Super Metroid, better than Metroid Fusion. It outshines all of its predecessors, while at the same time creating a new experience that no game has ever come close to... the closest probably being Super Metroid, but Metroid Prime has so much more depth and playability than Super Metroid.

I'm not saying that Super Metroid isn't deep or playable, but Metroid Prime just takes everything that was good about the older games and takes it to a whole new level, while still keeping the general feel of Super Metroid. The style of the game really suits my thorough playing style... I like to check every corner for hidden stuff, and I'm always finding new stuff to play with. I didn't like the controls at first, because I'm more of a "mouse and keyboard" guy, but after about twenty hours of playing, I'm pretty used to the controls and there probably would be no better way to set the controls up on the Gamecube controller. The lock-on targetting makes the combat seem easy compared to regular FPS games, but combat is only half the game, if even that much... I definitely spend most of my time jumping around on platforms and figuring out puzzles. I'm afraid that I'm gonna beat the game soon, but I'll still buy it when I get the money.

And rumor has it that a second game is in the works... at least that's what Nick says. This is good news, because I can't get enough Metroid Prime. I used to wonder why I chose Gamecube over Xbox, and now I know... The Gamecube has real games... games with soul. I can't really explain what I mean by that, but I don't mean games like DOA Extreme Beach Volleyball. I mean games that don't rely on anything but the gameplay. Prime doesn't need bouncing boobies to be a good game, nor does it need pixel shading or advanced split-screen multiplayer capabilities (to take your attention off of the actual game). There aren't any long cutscenes. It's just the game, and there's lots of it, and it's great.

Metroid Prime

I really wanna thank Nick right now for letting me borrow his Metroid Prime. It's a really, really good game, and is definitely the best console FPS I have played. I didn't like Halo a whole lot when I played it, but Metroid Prime is the best game I have played on my Gamecube. I've been playing for about ten hours, and I'm only at about 35%, so I probably have at quite a ways to go before I beat this game. It's nice to have something to do when your computer's messed up.

Hopefully I'll get my new hard drive today or tomorrow so I can get my own computer up and running again.

Spyware Ahoy!

Back on my sister's comp, 3 hours later... I'm checking for spyware with Spybot (AdAware doesn't update anywhere), and wow, there's a lot of fucking spyware on here. I'm gonna do her a favor and get rid of all of this spyware shit. She must wonder why windows randomly pop up when she's doing nothing at all.

(and they really do pop up when nothing's happening... the companies that create spyware should all be rounded up and gassed and their bodies burned in a crudely made ditch)

Gonna be a while.

It's gonna be a while before you see me back on the internet, depending on when I get a new hard drive. Stuff doesn't even want to save anymore without getting corrupt, and it's not because of a virus... the harddrive just refuses to work right. Makes really loud sounds when it's trying to load, it's pretty obvious that it's a hardware problem. Windows won't load up now, because certain .dll files have gotten corrupt. I doubt I'll be able to get it working without a new hard drive or something. I just hope I can pull some old files off of the hard drive once I get a new one.

Right now I'm on my sister's computer, and I'm really disgusted at how badly she treats it... she draws over EVERYTHING with marker, and the keyboard is so sticky that it seems like she intentionally dumps soda on it because she might think it's a living thing that needs a drink or something. She's pretty dumb. I gave her this keyboard not even two months ago, and she's managed to already turn it into a piece of shit that I will never use again. Congratulations.

And... what the fuck happened tonight? (March 6) I was expecting to go see Zwicker play at the loft with Nick and Rocky, but nobody ever showed up. I fell asleep waiting. Then I woke up and noticed my computer won't start up anymore, so I wrote this.

If anybody wants to buy me a new harddrive, I have a perfectly good soul that I'm not using. We could trade or something.

(GOD this keyboard is a piece of shit, I can see why my sister never uses correct punctuation or capitalization, her fucking SHIFT KEYS stick for five minutes after pressing them... every time I hit shift, I have to wait a minute for them to get un-stuck.)

ED209

The current political situation kind of reminds me of the movie Robocop, the scene where they're demonstrating ED209, the battlemech-ish security droid. In the movie, somebody is told to pick up a gun to demonstrate ED209's reaction to some hoodlum wielding a gun.

ED209's mechanical voice says, "Drop the weapon, you have ten seconds to comply." Then, it starts to count down from ten... Around five, the guy drops the gun, expecting to be safe and the countdown to stop. But, ED209 continues the countdown, and when he's finished, guns down the guy that dropped the gun five seconds ago and posed no threat whatsoever. Of course, ED209 had a valid excuse, technical malfunction.

Now, the US is ED209, and is counting down for Iraq. Even after Iraq complies, the countdown still continues. I wonder what's going to happen at the end of the countdown, and what the excuse is going to be. Human beings don't get the luxury of blaming their idiocy on technical malfunction. One of the White House guys said, "Maybe this is the mother of all distractions." Yeah, nothing is more distracting than compliance. I thought the whole point of this was to get them to disarm. Now that they're disarming, what are we getting distracted from?

Perhaps the whole process is a ruse, in order to make people not think that our current leader in office is an un-checked warmonger. It's easy to do what you want after a large-scale terrorist attack, because opposing it makes you "unpatriotic". And nobody wants to be unpatriotic, because un-patriotism is the modern day equivalent of what communism was fifty years ago.

In other news, my waterbed popped. Dammit. And my hard drive is making really loud noises sometimes when it loads stuff, and the whole computer hangs when it's doing it. It scares me.

Need to update more...

Yep. I got up at noon-ish today, but then I went out to eat with my mom and sister. It was good, I had bacon and eggs, hashbrowns and pancakes. When I got back home I laid around for a few hours and fell asleep, then woke up about 10:30pm. So, I'm probably gonna be up all night.

I've been playin Asheron's Call a lot, and I've been playin Counter-Strike a lot also. Haven't been playing Splinter Cell all that much, 'cause I'm stuck in a hard part and pretty much gave up until I'm bored enough to finish the rest of the game. It's still a great game though, just gets hard after a while.

I've come to the conclusion that there are only two hairstyles that I will ever have in my life, and that's either really long, or really short. Nothing in between. Anything between really long and really short is too high maintenance, and I hate high maintenance. I don't like standing in front of the mirror for more than a minute at a time, and trying to get my hair to stay on my head and not sticking straight up seems to take at least ten minutes. So, I'm gonna cut it shorter pretty soon.

I can't think of anything more to post, so I'm going to put something controversial here so people post comments. George W. Bush is a fucking idiot. So are all of the people avidly pushing for war against Iraq. The people that call the protesters anti-American are idiots too. Protesting the government is probably currently the most American thing about America at the moment. So what if Saddam gassed some of his own people? There have been many occasions where innocent americans have been slaughtered by the police, but I don't see other countries declaring war on us for killing our own people. Perhaps he should stop beating around the bush (no pun intended) and tell us straight up: "Hey guys, 2004 is just around the corner, and if I time this war on terror thing right, I'll look like a hero RIGHT before the next election!" Who gives a shit if Iraq had nothing to do with the Sept. 11 attacks, and who cares if we can't find the person who IS responsible for it, as long as we're killing some A-RABS! (pronounced "A" like "eight", "RAB" like "rabbit").

Fuck America.
