I kind of volunteered to make a new website for our kung fu school, so I've been up all night messing around, and I'm pretty happy with the results.
I'd say it's a pretty good improvement... I'd even go as far as to say that it's the most professional looking site I've made. None of the links work at the moment, I was just creating a layout before I started really working on adding content to the site.
Bleh... I just noticed that it looks different in IE than Firefox... I made it using firefox and didn't think to check it in IE. It still looks good though.
Posted by Joe at September 21, 2005 07:15 AMlooks really really good. Where'd you get the images though? On professional sites you gotta worry about "image stealing" sometimes, or at least put where you got the image from.
Very nice work!
Posted by: JP at September 21, 2005 10:07 AMwow, joe this looks pretty good, very good work. You should make me a website. Joe you should look into a career in web design. Considering you taught yourself, imagine what you could do with some schoolin'.
Posted by: Nick at September 21, 2005 02:57 PMall of the images were basically from random clip art that I found, and pictures of chinese paintings... the pictures of the kung fu guy are basically stock, they're on just about every hung gar site on the internet (they are old drawings of lam sai wing, who was a really well known hung gar master and trained directly under wong fei hung). The chinese symbol in the upper left corner means "tiger crane", and is used a lot in our style (our uniforms have the symbol on it, it's painted on the walls, the instructors and black sashes have it ironed onto their sash)
Generally, I'm not worried about image stealing because all of them are pretty much public domain, and even if they aren't, I doubt anybody would notice or care.
