hot ffxi action

I'm gonna make this short and sweet. I like ffxi a lot. It's really hard and requires a LOT of time and patience to progress, but I like it. Also, nick pointed out to me that sending messages while I'm healing is a good way to kill time, so I do that a lot now too. Josh and nick may notice that they have a bunch of messages waiting for them when they log on. Do you know who sent them? PROBABLY ME BECAUSE I SEND A LOT OF MESSAGES.

I joined a linkshell. Some japanese guy walked up to me and said something like "i going to give gift open trade ok?" and I was like "okay" because free stuff is always awesome. So I opened up my trade and it was a brown linkpearl, and he was like "ok?" and I clicked ok on the trade window. Then he said "ok?" and I was like "thanks", then I activated the linkpearl and he was like "ctrl L" so I hit ctrl+L and it popped up /linkshell, so I could talk to people. I think the linkshell is called "Chocolate", or it might just be the color of the linkshell, cause it was a brown linkshell. But I'm going to call it the chocolate linkshell from now on. Everybody that's worried about the linkshell we're going to start, don't worry. It looks like we're allowed to be in more than one linkshell, but we can only have one linkshell "equipped" at a certain time. Right now my chocolate linkshell is equipped. When we start our own, I'll just equip the new one. Yay!

I changed my class to white mage today, and I like it a lot more than playing warrior. I made it to level 6 in about half the time it took me to get to level 6 as a warrior. I guess taru's are just naturally supposed to play mage characters, they're much more effective that way. Anyway, the Dragoon/Samurai thing can wait, I"m either gonna be a Blackmage/Whitemage (which is what I originally planned), or a Bard/Whitemage (the ULTIMATE support class). People might think OH MAN BARD IS GAY but guess what, if I ever become a bard I'll be the coolest bard ever. I'll sing songs and stuff and people will get STRONGER because I sing songs. And then when people are getting stronger from my songs getting sung, I'll cast CURE on them and make their life go up. That sounds pretty cool to me.

Well, I guess it wasn't really short and sweet...

It doesn't matter if it's short or sweet, it's always AWESOME when you write ANYTHING. Wonder if I'd ever get FFXI..... ::shrug::

Out of curiousity. I played ffxi for a few months and got pretty far into it, but I noticed a few flaws and was wondering if someone who hyped it just as much as I did at first has caught on to any of these.

- Yes, it is a very beautiful environment, but what about butterflies, rabbits, boars, snakes? Things that dont need to kill you that make a world deeper, seem more real? There was another game that although not as beautiful graphically, still endeared to peoples needs to feel as though they are in a real world. Not everything you come up against in the real world is a monster yes?

- Then there's the fact that killing things is the only way that you can advance your character. True, I'm all for killing things in mass quantities, but there's still this ecking feeling that if I wanted to be say, a blacksmith, and only a blacksmith, I still have to kill to become stronger. Which to me makes little sense. In before mentioned game, if you wanted to be a tanner, you could go out, kill a boar, skin it, cook the meat, and have gained xp, a feast, and some leather for armor. It just is too kill/heal based.

- The game is item based, and level based, meaning to wield a huge and cool sword, you have to be a certain level, thats great if the sword is ridiculous, but think about it, if you wanted to you could pick up a machine gun and ice 20 people. You might not fire it well, but you can fire it. It would only make sense that you cant swing a huge sword until your strength is a certain level, instead of some imaginary factor like levels. This is a big problem to me.

- That's another thing, killing, and then healing, and then killing, and then healing. Because you have to kill tough to very tough monsters to make the experience worthwhile, you usually run extremely close to death every fight. Unless you group up with a white mage, but then, that means you have to rely on someone else. So if you were a loner, and liked fighting alone so you got all of the experience, you have to risk losing 300-400 xp every kill.

- Oh yeah, one more thing, theres just not enough models/classes/customization to make it truly diverse, everyone you see is definable as your level by what they're wearing. That's because, theres not enough different armors or clothes to wear that dont look the same. Anyway.

- There's a lot more that I can think of but right now I must run. So, I'm not aiming to discourage you from playing the game or anything because I know I can't, I was just curious if these things had dawned on another player?

I wanted to add, I hadnt read that you'd seen a few of the things previously mentioned wrong before -I'm catching up posts- but even so, how about now?
