So, as most have you have noticed in the past few months gas has continued to reach new peaks past any price any of us have ever seen. Last night while I was going to Walmart, I noticed that one gas station had gas for 2.97, gas had just gone up 30 cents. Luckly walmarts gas station still had gas for 2.70 somthing, so I filled up, cost 50 dollars. IT COST 50 DOLLARS FOR 1 WEEK OF GAS!! THIS IS BEFORE THE 30 CENT PRICE RISE!! Something needs to be done, and Bush needs to do it, this is so fucking nuts.
Hmm...the past few days I've been very worried about my future. Mostly because I don't necessarily LOVE my major. Although it's school and it' hard to love anything, I just don't find my major (communications) the coolest thing in the world. The reason I chose Comm was because it is a very broad major, so broad that it can take you anywhere. Although, having a broad major, makes you less special, and people who specialize in stuff, like Erik, make all the monies. Now, money isn’t really that important to me, I mean, I like it a lot, I want more of it, and I love to spend it....but I do want a job where I can be well off. After talking to my dad, then talking to Erik, I'm very interested in getting involved in some kind of technical position as a Network Admin/Systems Admin type of guy, where you manage a network of computers in a small company, school, or business. Sometimes I take my knowledge and patience for computers for granted, I forget there are lots of people, old and young who know nothing about computers, and by nothing, I mean jack shit. The website Erik linked me, shows that it's a very growing field, and in many instances a major in Computer Science isn't needed. So, my new plan for life is to finish college in the next year / year and a half, and get certified in various network /computer subjects through a vocational school, or something in my area of OKC/Tulsa. While I am in no hurry to move from Norman, I would like to get my feet wet with this stuff, and see where it can take me.
Norman is the place to be right now, Max has moved in, and Erik will be here this weekend. Adam and Token have expressed interest in moving up here in the spring (yaya) and I hope that they can convince Joe, who should also come up here, for more reasons than his cool friends who love him, but for school as well. Once they come up I will have all my friends in Norman, those whom are already here, and the ones who will show up in the following months! It's a very exciting time in Norman.
School is going okay, not to much to say yet, I'm going to let another week or so go buy before I write about classes, so I can get a feel for what's going on with them, and stuff.
Night
Easiest first day of school ever. Just one class, The history of science to Newton. The class seams like it's going to be really cool, we also got out early today so now I can head off to work!
Fuck work, at least school wasnt bad.
Outy.
First I would like to start off wishing Ashley and myself a happy one year anniversary! Last night we celebrated and went down to Bricktown in Oklahoma City! It's been a great year, and I hope for many more. She is a great girl and I am a very happy guy.
On other notes, I recieved my new case, well...it's a big hunk of crap. It's very thin and fragile (not a bad thing really, it's light and nice, im just afraid of putting a dent in it or something) the inside of the case is where most of the problems are. The area where you screw your PCI slot stuff from the mobo into the case does not have screw holes, at all. It has little slits, where nothing could fit, short from a twisty tie...... Inside, the areas where you would mount the DVD drive, or your Hard Drive, are just two planks of alluminum, with a few screw holes, there are no "bays" with locking clasps or little shelves for your items to rest. The main problem is the lack of screw areas for the PCI shit, cause i've got things that need to be screwed down cause they are not plugged into the PCI slot, like my mobo's extra USB and firewire inputs. Either way i've just placed the order on my new case, I droped an extra 25 dollars, and the case only has got good reviews, I hope that this time I have better luck. I made sure the case was simple, but had 3 things that I wanted, thumbscrews, front USB, and front Microphone and Headphones out put for pluggin in on the fly. Also, I went ahead and picked up a generic DVI to DVI cord from new egg for my digital monitor pleasure. yay!
Today I put together my old computer for Ashley, which should feel brand new to her, compared to her shitty laptop that we are selling on Ebay for parts or personal use. It's not dead, just stupid stuff that happens to laptops, cause laptops are stupid. Read about it here. She bought a new LCD screen from walmart, while cheep, it does look very nice.
Now my search for a good computer desk, and my quest of life will be over.
Anyways.
Check out my SHIT BOX here.
Check out my NEW BOX THAT I HOPE IS AWESOME here.
Good night.
I just watched this movie for the first time, I know it's a classic and all, but ashley joe and I just got done watching it at my house. This is one weird movie. I can't say it was awesome, or that I even liked it. Although, I didnt hate it, I'm just confused on how I feel. After doing some research about the movie, and what it meant, including the ending, I feel a little better than i did. Then I saw the year it was made, I thought it was made in the 70's, late at that. But it was made in 68, and I must say that even for our time, this movie is visually stunning. I couldnt imagine what people said when they saw this, it must have blew their minds. Knowing this, I have much more appreciation for the film. If you havent seen it yet, take some time and watch it. It's filled with imagery and crazy thought provoking ideas. But, I must warn you, this movie is SLOW, in every meaning of the word, it's long, sometimes scenes will go for minutes without changing pace, music, and most of the time no verbal audio. It's like watching a painting, it's beautiful to watch, intresting to see, but if you stare at it for 5-6 min, you're going to get a little bored. Either way, it's worth sitting through, so get up and go watch it!
So, I went ahead and traded in my old samsung for a new one, sams was willing to return it without a recepit, box, instructions with no problem at all. I got about 150 dollars credit and upgraded to this beautiful LCD flatscreen monitor, it's 19 inches and it's gorgeous. I was just going to get a 17 inch, but I went ahead and treated myself. It cost a little under 400, around 360 but with my 150 dollar credit from a montior that has had a year use, I'd say it's a great deal. It's fucking awesome though. I don't think it's better than Erik and Whitey's Dell, but I like it a lot. I need to configure it perfectly though, but everytime I tweak the contrast, brightness or colors I just put it back to default.
anyways, check it out.
So I had this entire post I had in my head that I was going to write, until now. I was going to write about how I had to reformat Windows, because my SP2 cd is fucked, and won't let me do a repair. Why do I need to repair? Well, Windows Vista somehome fucked my shit up. I partioned a drive just for the install, so I could check out the cool new stuff I've been hearing about. While I was installing it crashed, bsod style too. So I figured, "fuck it", but since then my computer will randomly crash, and multiple error messages will pop up left and right when I try to run any program. So, I went ahead and did a reinstall of Windows, WoW, all my "installer" programs, and restored my computer to it's "normal" state in just over an hour, I was pretty happy, speically about WoW. So I go ahead and restart the computer after the 1.6 patch, and now WoW won't load up......Some fatal error, and it can't start the program. I don't know if the 1.6 patch is messed up, if I did it wrong ( I don't know how I could) or something like that. So my perfect reformat, just over an hour, has failed. The only reason I am doing this so late at night was because this night was my final night before I had to start working this week, and I have not played WoW much in the past few days, and I've been really wanting to. Josh just got it, and lots of my friends are playing it already, plus pepe found some hot new leggings for me, mail style. Hot mail leggings....hmm hmm :)
Anyways, I guess I'll just go to bed, I think I'm going to sacrafice homebrew apps, such as my nes emulators for the new legal 2.0 update for psp. I've used the internet browser, and it's pretty cool. I know I have a computer with a much better browser and keyboard and mouse. But there is a college right next to gamestop that emits a very strong 100% WiFi signal, so that means internet at work, internet on breaks too. And when school rolls around, I'm looking forward to taking my mp3 player out of my backpack while I ride around, and then check my E-mail with it, or just my regular blog fix.
