I have some catching up to do! Last night Joe went from Springfield to Marshfield where he found a KoA camp ground. He says the hills and wind were really terrible, and the trip started to get on his emotions. Getting closer and closer to a camp site is the best thing in the world. He had to pay the guy the standard 22 dollars to stay (even with just a bike), unlike the last KoA camp site where the guy cut him a 50% off deal. Me and Ashley have been his sources, we help him find KoA camp sites, and tell him what towns he should be able to hit within his 50-70 miles trip a day. Here is his path for Saturday.
Actually that was only half of that day, he left marshfeild and made it to Lebanon before hitting the KoA camp site.
Sunday morning Joe left Lebanon and started out for his next destination, Rolla, MO. I only got to talk to him for a few minutes, but he had his hardest day yet, the hills were really really bad, and the whole trip dogs chased him down the road, every few miles he would drive down these houses with no fences and dogs would chase him, he said it was really scary and they chased him most of the day (different dogs). Joe also stoped by a Bike Shop where he got a tune up for only 10 bucks, they replaced some bolts that were falling off and took off his rope and ducktape. Apparentley he has had something held down by rope, and he has had to bite the other end while he rides, or the bike will start to get loose.........yeah, it was about time for a good tune up. After Joe's shitty day he figured it was time to stay in a real bed. His orginal plan was to go to sunday church and find some nice people in the church that might have a place for him to stay, or even in the church, but that didnt happen today. Instead he found a shitty hotel for 20 bucks a night. He has showers (no more campsite showers) and a real bed. He says it's the best thing ever.
Yesterday Joe left Joplin and made it to Springfield's outskirts. He would have made it to Springfield that day if a cop didnt tell him to go 30 miles to this other town that would allow him to get to chigago faster....but it was very out of the way and some construction workers took him back to where he was on Route 66. Joe has hit the Ozark Mountains and has been loosing overall distance per day because of the extra work in the hilly region. Check out his path.
Welp, Joe made it to Joplin last night. He hung out at a strip club porch that he thought was closed, until a man came out. Joe asked the man if he could fill up his water bottle, and the man didnt say anything but took his water jug, filled it up, gave him 2 bottles of water, some chips, a candy bar and a five dollar bill and said "Take care of yourself" not knowing anything about him, or where he was going.
Prolly thought he was homeless.
Joe should make it to St. Louis tonight or tomorrow. So far he has covered quite alot of ground on a bike, a bike that is starting to fall apart but is held together with duck tape and rope.
UPDATE: View Joe's trip for day 2.
Well, after a phone call we now know that Joe has made it to Vinita, Oklahoma right near the boarder. He says his whole body is sore, but to answer JP's question he is in very good shape, but this will be hard for anyone. He got some water from 180 the church place, and found sleeping grounds near a church in Vinita. I'm sure he left at sun up this morning, but I'd be tried if I rode my bike for 10 hours only taking an hour break for food and water. I hope he makes it.
So far this is how far he has traveled.

So I wanted to tell everyone about my friend Joe Puma. See, were all going to visit my friend Shereen who is doing an internship in Chicago. Were flying up there in a few weeks, it's gonna be awesome. It's going to be Ashley, Yasmeen (Shereens sister), maybe my friend Monica, and Joe Puma. Everyone is flying but Joe. Joe is riding his bike. No no, not his motorcycle, his fucking bike. He left today, and he will be making his journey over the next 2 weeks......
yeah.
So, wish Joe good luck, so I may once see him again, in Chicago safe and sound. Joe has always been a crazy guy, but this is beyond anything I can imagine. I believe he is sleeping in a tarp through his journey, I can't wait to hear his tales for all the crazy homeless men he will share a room with under the bridges of the midwest.
On another Note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY ASHLEY! She is 21 today, and finally all growed up!
Were all going to the bar to celebrate! Meet us at the Vista at 10:30.
Hey everyone. I can't remember the last time I updated, but I figured it was about damned time! Lots of stuff has happened since the last time I updated, but I'll try to highlight some awesome stuff. We all went to AKON a few weeks ago, and as expected it was awesome, although only 3/4 prophecies were fulfilled, the trip was awesome anyways (except for Erik's gashed toe). My new computer is running just fine, without any random problems or anything, and I finally have Internet at my new house. Oh yeah, I moved into a new house, with Munkie, Chris Kochendorpher (yeah), and Crispy, this summer/fall. I've been working alot in Norman, and trying to swim on my time off in the afternoons.
Erik visited a few days ago, and we saw Batman Begins, and it was fucking awesome, I hope everyone goes and sees it for free at Starworld before Hell swallows it up in September, and we never see it again. If you don't know what im talking about then don't worry about it.
I've been trying to play WoW some more, but I'm a pretty busy dude here in Norman, but I'd like to catch up with everyone. I also got the new White Stripes album, which at first I wasn't crazy about, but now I've found myself obsessed, and extremely impressed by every song on the album, it's just fucking great all around. I love it.
Anyways, eat, drink and be merry, oh and download "Get behind me Satan" by the White Stripes.
Fuckn' A!
