Thanks to Erik, I can update from the Library! I just got some francais devoirs done so I can dick around on the net untill class at 1:30!
So I got back my research paper in Communications, the one that I did over the linquistic relativity of Seinfeld, and I got a 94! MUHAHA Take that you fucks.
Shereen is standing over me right now, she wanted me to tell you this. Erik just tried to send me a link of a chick eating out another chick, but the school blocked it, so the library will not be educated today on the birds and the awesome.
So I got Guild Wars, Joe is right, it's a lot like Diablo II, but in a 3-D world, and way pretty. The game looks really nice. I havent played much though, because of school, but I've had fun but I like WoW better right now. I think it's best to not think of Guild Wars as an MMO, but just this online game where gamers all over America meet in various cities in game, and meet up with people to do quests. Because there are no areas, or dungeons where you can run into people. There are plenty of NPC's walking around, but none of them are real. So if I were to compare this to WoW, that wouldnt be fair, because it's really not a true MMO. But it's still a cool, well done game, that is doing something that no other company has the balls to do, so good for them. Of course there is a reason that the game resembles Diablo so much, the fellas over at blizzard north that made diablo (the head guys) quit Blizzard and joined NCSoft and made this game. There are so many little things that resemble Diablo directly, like Identifying Scrolls, hireing of NPC's, random chests or hidden stashes, things like that.
Anyways, French starts in 15 min, and I'm on foot today, so I've got to start walking over to Kauffman. Then it's lunch with Munkie, then a Final at 6:30!

Kitchen is clean now (hurray!) and max is now a tennant of the LANpartment. I would buy guild wars, but just leaving FFXI I think I'm gonna lay off the MMORPG games for a bit.

And Token, Don't think of it as an MMO, it's just a game that we play online, it's not as grinding or life consuming as normal MMO's. It really feels like a single player game that you can easly play with others if you want. It's 50 bucks, I get a discount at Gamestop, so it's like 40. So just buy it, the alls ofs yous.
Posted by: Nick at May 5, 2005 12:02 AMI got past the newbie area of guildwars and the game changed a lot. Armor is way easier to get because crafters actually make it. There are also merchants that sell materials for crafting and dye merchants. The monsters right out of the starter town are pretty tough now and I made level 8 pretty fast after getting out of the newbie area. Shit gangs up on you really easy, henchmen are all over the monastery place for you to hire, but they die really easy.
(there's some spoilers below if you care)
Basically, the real game doesn't begin until after you finish the newbie area. To finish the newbie area you need to talk to Tydus and he teleports you to an arena where it automatically puts you in a party with some other players (doing the same quest) and some henchmen, and puts you against other players and henchmen doing the same. It counts kills for your team and whatever team has the most kills at the end of the time limit wins and gets to progress to the next part of the quest. My team won on the first try with a score of 8 to 4.
After you do that, it teleports you to another area where you, and a bunch of the important named NPC's, and some henchmen, are running around killing random monsters and stuff, and you have to kill this big monster. Once you kill this big monster, the world kind of explodes like the World of Ruin from FF3 on snes.
That's basically the end of the newbie area, and you start playing the game "two years later". It's the same area, but it's completely destroyed, and the layout of the land and cities are different because of that.
Really awesome.

The newbie area is merely a prelude to the story of the game, and once it's over, you can't go back.
