I just found out something kind of....disturbing...turns out that the government told CNN that we were raiding falluja, but it turns out they were lying. Yeah, read it here. Turns out it was a "tactic" to see how the Iraqis would respond to the misinformation. I think that the government has crossed the line on this one. I first read about the original "attack" here from Jp's site

I know that the Iraqis use CNN as a news source and that is why our government gave CNN false information, but I think this is crossing the line. How do we know what news is real? How can we trust them?

from what I read on the report taht you posted, the post I put on my site was actually the real offensive (hence the live footage on TV that I saw).

The mis-information was back in October, 3 weeks before I posted about it.

And for one, I've never completely trusted the news. Especially now the US news, they are always leaning one way or the other, and reporting in a way to make things seem better or worse. This can be seem a lot with CNN and Fox News...

Anyways...... yeah, lying sucks, fooling the enemy is a good plan though, stupid media messes a lot of things up though, I could tell you about this one thing back in WWII, but I think maybe I'll just post it on my site.

Yeah good point, I havent been watching the news a lot till last night, and I thought that when you posted that, it was the first time, not the 3 weeks later. In defence of the news, CNN said that they did not mean to misinform, they just trusted their source (army spokesman from iraq) and thought it to be true.

Governments have been lying to the media since they've both existed, i.e. a long ass time. The main benefit to the misinformation is that it's hard to wage war when all of your battle plans are on the global evening news for all to see. Personally, I'd rather our field commanders have the upper hand so they can minimize our casualties and bring the conflict to an end more quickly.

I don't see to it as personally being lied to, just playing along while we confuse those terrorist jerks.
