On Track

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Moving Erik in was about 400x more fun than moving Max, only because I had air conditioning and not smelly gas fumes, yay. Erik should be settled in now and hopefully he is excited about getting his life in gear and moving on to cool things and such. He dropped some money on much needed appliances / gadgets but he should nearly have all the necessaties and not too many “oh shit” trips to Wal-Mart where you realize you don’t have something you are accustomed to having access to.

Good luck with your job of course big guy, I am really happy for you and I am sure I will be down there visiting a lot anyway.

Just had my first braces related visit to my dentist. The visit was quite a bit more enjoyable than any trip to the other guy, good times. Bad side of the story is I am now 600 dollars poorer and I am going to be sore for a couple of days. This is worth it in the long run of course because it will be great to finally get these things taken off.

Things at work are good, no news from movin up yet but I will be sure to let people know whats up whether its good or bad.

Things are good with the woman and I am sure that if things keep going well most of you guys will get to meet her soon. She just started basketball and she will be very busy now and with our “geigh” work schedules who knows, but she should be with me when I go to the Coldplay concert.

Other than that things are going pretty damn awesome, I hope to continue getting things accomplished and get more serious about moving on with things, perhaps laying out the foundation to get a business started on the side and all that jazz. Matt and I also plan on finding a bigger place to live and see what we can get pre-approved for and not pay rent anymore and save money instead of just flushing it down the toilet each month.

Be sure to think about all those poor people in New Orleans that were train wreck’d by the hurricane, sad sad times.

Everyone have a good week and stay out of trouble.

Long Overdue Post

If I were to be fined for not updating I think I would have a pretty hefty bill, JP alone has sent me like 4-5 nasty IMs demanding where my updates are well, here you go buddy.

  • Quakecon
  • Quakecon was a lot of fun, it was great to spend time with Erik and do the usual Quakecon things. The trip there had its oddities like the evil bump that caused Mike’s explorer to get angry at us and leak power steering fluid all over the place and have the battery go dead as well. Turns out the battery was the incorrect size anyway and after replacing it with a new one from wal-mart (and acquiring a shiny new wal-mart cart to carry our stuff into quakecon) we were on our way again. Dallas is great to visit but I don’t think I would want to live there, they don’t seem to have a large number of improvements over say what Tulsa or Oklahoma City have to offer but they have tons of traffic and everything is really far apart, lots of driving… etc.

  • Moving with Max
  • Last weekend Matt and I had the pleasure of moving Max into his new apartment in Norman. Now we had planned on a great trip just moving furniture and the like, well Max had something different in mind. He decided to squeeze in the idea that he was going to drive his beetle down there and then stay there since school started that Monday therefore making Matt and myself ride in “The Beast” and be punished by it’s lack of air conditioning. Ok, no big deal right? Heat advisory… no AC… we can survive! Afterall going 75 down the turnpike we should get some decent air circulation. Unfortunately the vehicle had some other issues. First of all about 20-30 miles before hitting the McDonalds at the halfway point towards OKC the vans temperature began to redline, Matt attempted to correct this by throwing the vehicle out of overdrive and turning on the heater ><>< . Now since there was some hot water flowing through the heater core it did help lower the temperature but on the downside our feet were now nice and roasty. Oooh boy! We decide to pull over at the McDonalds to investigate and verify that there is plenty of coolant in the van, and there was -- poor thing just couldn't keep up. Matt goes to turn the key and the van will now not start, ugh ugh. Turns out that they had the carburetor recently replaced because the vehicle was dying frequently. Yeah well you could totally say that whatever they did they didn't adjust it correctly because when we finally got it started that thing was blowing out all sorts of smoke, yuck. Now whenever we came to a stop the van would not remain running so Matt had the pleasure of throwing the vehicle into N and attempting to left foot brake + right foot gas to keep the damn thing alive, hilarity ensued as we drove through the OU campus where there are stoplights every 2.5 feet due to all the crosswalks.

To put the icing on the cake we had the distinct pleasure of inhaling gasoline fumes most of the trip there and the entire trip back, headaches are not fun.

Ok so after all that moving was easy. We ate at Fazoli’s and were on our way back to Tulsa to rejoice at the aspect of riding in my truck again.

  • Work
  • The head csm recently transferred to a different store, crazy times. I applied to move up at work and its possible that I may get to, more money and perhaps better hours too, will just have to wait and see. Other than that it’s been the usual thing at work — crazy people sometimes but I enjoy my job.

Ok so uhmn other than that…. sup?

Yeah I know… next time I won’t wait so long to update. If I forgot to mention something someone please hit me, other than that I hope everyone had a great first week of school, Erik is moving soon yay!!!!

    Have a good weekend guys!

    Update

    Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Yeah, I know, I haven’t updated like at all recently. Yes I know I am bad. Everyone has permission to slap me the next time they see me.

Lots has happened since my last update and I will try my hardest to make a worthy post later tonight when I get off work… I have a lot of ground to cover and a lot of things are going on.

Everyone go get Google Talk so I don’t have to use Trillian anymore, k thx.

    New Sites to Check Out

    Thursday, August 11th, 2005

I know I pimped these sites before but I just showed them to Erik a few minutes ago before he left to go home and sleep.

    last.fm
This place recommends music to you based on your listening habits, it is the fruits of the audioscrobbler project which I have pimped many times before, but this site is looking a lot more professional and is just awesome in general, go check it out now. a++

    Musicbrainz
This program will retag your music based on its current name / id3 tag and also re-organize your music into certain folders making it easier to navigate through your massive music collection and provide some consistency. Get this now too, be warned… it takes awhile to retag your files so only do this if you have a couple of hours of your time to waste. You also should change the defaults to how it “moves” your files, talk to me before doing this and I will walk you through it.

Ok, back to the file sharing… new hard drive is almost halfway full already ><

Its great to be here and you guys should all consider coming next year since the event is free. Expect to see me start taking pictures soon.

    Quakecon BYOC is Big

    Sunday, August 7th, 2005

Here is the floor plan for Quakecon this year, check it out and see how many tables there are. Each little rectangle is either an 8 or 10 foot table, can’t really remember. But man look at all those tables, crazy!

    Lazy

    Sunday, August 7th, 2005

Seems I have been lazy and really haven’t posted much lately. Not much to write about, same old mess at work, had quite a few people quit recently and its going to go straight down the tubes. One can hope and pray that they will be able to replace the workforce nearly as fast as they quit, no real guarantees tho. Today I had the luxury of going into the accounting office so I was able to avoid the back to school shopping crowd, good times. Other than that Quakecon is quickly approaching and I am really excited about it, I will get to spend time in Dallas and time with good ol Erik. Bring on the fun!
