Firewire Cable!
The firewire cable came in from newegg this afternoon. I quickly hooked it up and followed the directions from avsforum on howto record hdtv and watch it live.
Here are some example screencaps of quality without it being tweaked yet, just how it looks when i fire it up.
HD Discovery Channel
Family Guy on Adult Swim
Pretty tasty eh? Whenever we get a HTPC built if we really want we can stream the cable box content across the LAN to anyone we want to using VLC, pretty hot stuff.
Right now its mostly useless but if we want to record some hdtv content we have a way to do it right now — unfortunately a 1 hour show in HD is about 7500 mb =(.
I finally have a weekend, expect to see me working on some web stuffs and leveling up in WoW. Have a great weekend everyone.

that’s pretty cool, though that is a gianormous amout of hard disk space for 1 hour. Might just have to record at a lower level or something, if that’s possible. Wonder what compression agents they have out there for it.
