Wow Adam Updated

Friday, October 29th, 2004

Wow… just wow, good to see some news from Adam though, it makes me happy!

Nothing new here really, I helped Erik setup Gentoo this week and hopefully it will treat him better than the little blue box. It still needs a couple of itty bitty things done to it but nothing really big. I have been spending most of my time playing Grand Theft Auto : San Andreas — and it is amazing. This is by far the best game in the series so far, more music, more cities, more mini games, and the main guy is black so he talks “naughty”. I crack up everytime I hear him talk — oh man the hilarity.

Brent Spiner is going to be on Star Trek tonight — sorta like the Dad of Khan. Very very exciting as it looks that they may start the Klingon war, mm mm.

I plan on adding some words to the comment nuker as it seems that some people think we should be playing internet roulette.

Oh Firefox is approaching 1.0 release and I found some cool backgrounds if anyone is needy, check them out.

Have a great halloween weekend everyone.

All About the Same Stuff

Thursday, October 21st, 2004

Hey guys, not really much new going on but I thought I would make a post anyway.

The cable for the HDTV came in, however it decided to kick my butt. Getting the settings right were very annoying and no matter how hard I tried I could not get the tv to work at 1920×1080. When I came home I found out about a dialog box that I did not fiddle with so maybe that will fix the problems. All of the resolutions looked halfway decent on the tv so if I can fix the scan problem (i am missing like 1/6 of the screen on the left and right side) then we will be in business. The only real reason I am bothering with this is I wanted to make a HTPC to play DiVX movies and record / playback HDTV. Most HDTV set top “vcrs” are like 600 bucks, that is way too expensive.

Today is payday — gonna send a lot of money to the ol credit card and newegg to pay stuff off. My student loans are almost paid off, only have a couple of months left on them and then my debt will be like 2/3 gone, that is really really exciting. I really hope that I can get most of this debt knocked out before I move out of the house in two months, part of me is scared that I am not going to make it since I only have like 4-5 paychecks left. The good thing is the only really big expenses I have left are….

Getting kitchen stuff out of layaway
Buying RAM for my Dad
New monitor

That’s it right? Someone speak up if I forgot something.

Hey — last thing, leave a comment for your vote - CRT vs LCD. The CRT I picked out is 250 bucks, LCD is 400. How should James spend his money?

Wedding + Non Updating

Saturday, October 16th, 2004

I apologize for the lack of updating, nothing really new and exciting has happened since the last update. Max is indeed home again — however he learned that his training will take place in Enid OK for the next 60 days. After that he plans to return to Norman to continue school so it appears that he won’t be around much, bummer.

I am venturing to Kansas today for a family wedding. Gotta love hanging with the Joplins. Wal Mart business is picking up for the holidays back in layaway. People are realizing that Christmas is just two months away. I am excited about the approaching holiday season and hopefully we will all get to hang out again when everyone comes home for christmas break. I feel so detached from everyone right now except for Erik since I see him all the time at work. Hopefully when everyone returns we can enjoy quality time hanging out!

Friends really are super important and sometimes I feel like I work way too much or intend to get involved at too many things at once. I always feel like I have a full plate — I am not complaining but sometimes it seems that I rarely kick back and “do nothing”. I am not demanding a more casual or laid back lifestyle perhaps I just need to manage my time better.

Anyway — video game stuff

Half Life 2
Grand Theft Auto
Metal Gear Solid 3
Halo 2 — I WONT PLAY THIS
Nintendo DS
new PSTwo
Gran Turismo 4

Looks like a lot of us are going to be poor this holiday season, yikes… lots of great games coming out!

Ok — time for wedding, have a great weekend everyone!

Spam Removal

Sunday, October 10th, 2004

The tool that was promised is now up, it doesn’t quite look right in Internet Explorer 6 but I will fix that shortly.

If you need another keyword added please send me an IM and let me know.

Tip of the Year

Sunday, October 10th, 2004

Look everyone its mobile google.

Be sure to read the directions on what this bad boy can do, I am sure Erik is going to wet himself, I know I did.

No exciting news otherwise, we have the new HDTV which is of course very very hot. I look forward to picking up an HDMI cable so I can check out how it functions as a monitor.

Automagic Spam Removal

Thursday, October 7th, 2004

I am going to put the finishing touches (aka I need the db password) on the automatic comment spam removal tool, look for an update with link tonight to take care of those dirty bastards that are taking advantage of us =(.

Sleep & Car

Monday, October 4th, 2004

I set my alarm for 6:01 pm last night, oops. I woke up naturally around 8:45 and high tailed it to work since I was already almost two hours late.

Turns out they didn’t have any tapes recording outside yesterday for that 24 hour time span, bummer for me. Guess my car is going to look gimpy from now on till I get rid of it.

No Half Life 2 news or CS:Source news yet, argh. Sad Times. Family is flying in tonight, then other stuff for fun!

Tired + Crap

Sunday, October 3rd, 2004

I have been really tired all day, dunno why. Maybe I just didn’t sleep very well last night.

Someone hit my car today at work, looks like they were backing out and turned the wheel too early resulting in pulling off my hubcap and scratching - denting my car quite well. Pretty crappy. I won’t know until Tuesday if the security cameras at work caught anything.

I will take pictures and share when the sun is up, time for a short nap now.

Fair Going

Friday, October 1st, 2004

Just got back from the fair, great times acutally. I got onto a lot of rides that used to scare me and for the most part I enjoyed them, now the Zipper is a terrible terrible thing, keep you and your loved ones far far away from it. That is all.

Oh, a certain game should go gold today. Guess which one it is…
