Saturday, May 31st, 2003

At the kon right, seen some pretty cool things, and a lot of people dressed up.

Nick & Matt ( + jennifer!) these pictures are for you, when i return home and have faster internet i will upload some higher quality pictures.

Rikku and Yuna 1
Rikku and Yuna 2

yes… rikku is very very hot, and these are some of the best “new” yuna + rikku’s that i saw on the convention floor (ff 7 and 10 were very popular)

Otherwise, i haven’t spent that much money yet…. so things are good. I am however torn between what to spend my money on. I may or may not update before I return tomorrow. See ya guys at my house soon…

a-kon

I am leaving for a-kon, be back late sunday, i might post while i am there… dunno yet.

40 != 12

Sunday, May 25th, 2003

Breaking the seal on a new spindle of media is always a happy moment, except when the product has been poorly labeled! I opened my 40X black media only to see that it is only rated for 12x, boo! Erik had the same problem so maybe we can score some free stuff out of memorex over the deal. In addition to that it appears my brand new keyboard is a piece of crap, some of the keys already aren’t working properly, i am going to send it back to new egg for a replacement while i am at a-kon. Other than that… nothing exciting going on =(. Just the lan for the last week…. so yup.

I need a nap… really bad…

The Matrix Reloaded

Thursday, May 15th, 2003

That title above….. should really changed to
High School reloaded.

Let me tell you why, while waiting in line at the theater last night i saw a ton of people from my graduating class. This isn’t a bad thing but most of these people i have not seen since i left the place a couple of years ago.
Movie? it was ok. i hate to say that i enjoyed it but i really did. Since the movie came out i have seen a lot of bad press / reviews on it both from film critics and from movie goers. I thought it was an ok movie and while my list of complaints is there it isn’t that long. With that said, its worth the money to see it, so see it and see X2 if you haven’t yet.

Nothing else going on, everyone is hanging out at my house so if you are bored you should just come by and chill!

Sidenote: a certain part of life is starting to get “exciting” again, i will post any details as they occur…

Suikoden III

Wednesday, May 7th, 2003

ok, for those not familiar i am going to give this game a quick run down.

==> the gameplay / storyline / old school feel reminds me of final fantasy 6, mayyybee 7… but it feels more old school than that because as far as i can tell so far it is not set in modern times… more of a castle / horses type setting.

==> trinity site system *

==> 108 party members (holllllly crrrappppp)

==> chapter driven storyline

I think that covers the highlights of the game. The only thing that has really impressed me thusfar is the storyline and the method they go about telling it. The trinity site system that i refer to is in regards this…you see the start of this war (perhaps more?) from three different perspectives, a grassland boy, a woman soldier, and what appears to be a mercernary who knows more of what is going on behind the scenes. It is really neat because as you play you will come across the other characters and then when you go back and play the other character the same thing will happen but from a different side. Overall a very good translation and good plot development.

Here are some things you should not expect to see stand out well against the competition…
It doesn’t have Square composors (you know… Uematsu… or Yasunori Mitsudi).
Now i am not saying that the music SUCKS, but don’t expect chrono cross, xenogears/saga, final fantasy type tunes out of this game.
In retrospect some of the songs haven’t been too bad, a good example is the intro song that goes along with the anime lookin video. However i will still stand by my previous statement because there are some songs that are just horrible, if you play the game you will hear them.

Another case against the game is that the graphics and town settings are not too visual at all. This takes me back to Legend of Dragoon quality work. The settings look very flat, plain, and if there weren’t NPCs walking around you would think you were in a room full of cubes. Big disappointment after playing through titles with eye candy such as Final Fantasy X and Xenosaga.

Overall and thus far (about 7 hours in… finished each person’s chapter 1) I can tell this is going to be a good RPG despite the small setbacks, it has a classic game feel, the battle system is fun, and the storyline is intriguing. If anything else comes up before the game ends i will post more of my ideas, otherwise don’t expect to hear much more about it until i finish it.

clean

Monday, May 5th, 2003

I just had the pleasure of cleaning…. my hard drive and my office. Not too much to talk about really. I am getting into suikoden III and it is quickly becoming a very very good RPG. I guess this is another one of those “sleeper” titles that doesn’t get marketed very well =/. If anyone wants to pick it up after i finish just tell me. Other than that, everyone else gets out of school soon so maybe i should start socializing and stop working so freaking much… tomorrows paycheck should have over 100 hours on it easy, this whole thing is slowly wearing me out but at least it gives me stuff to do in my free time.

Abysmalsoftware.com is quickly coming together and should be uploaded before this month is over, when it goes live i will put a notice on the blog.

x-men 2 day

Friday, May 2nd, 2003

the day is here, the first “big” movie of almost summertime. It is going to be a wonderful remainder of the year, i can just tell. We will be very spoiled with a ton of good movies / games / etc. As you can see i have still yet to edit the style sheet, oh well… i really should stop working over full time as i think i am starting to get a little worn out.

The new truck parts are almost all completely installed and when i finish things up i will take some pictures for you guys.
